Payments & Refunds

Refund & Cancellation Policy

When we refund, when we don't, and how to ask.

Effective date: 1 August 2026

This policy is published under Rule 4(3) of the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 and applies to professional fees paid to Khata World. Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

1. How payments are currently taken

Online payment through a payment gateway is not yet enabled on this website. At present, fees are arranged directly with you — by bank transfer or UPI — after we confirm the scope and quote in writing. There is no checkout, and this site does not store card, UPI or bank credentials.

When a payment gateway is activated, this policy will apply to gateway payments in the same way, and refunds will be returned to the original payment method. We will update the effective date above when that happens.

2. What you pay for

Our fee is for professional work — reviewing your position, preparing the return or application, and filing it. It is separate from:

  • Government fees, statutory levies and portal charges, which are paid to the authority and are not refundable by us.
  • Goods and Services Tax, where applicable.

Where a refund is approved, government fees already paid to an authority on your behalf cannot be returned by us, as we no longer hold them.

3. Cancelling

You may cancel and receive a full refund of our professional fee if you tell us before work has commenced. “Commenced” means we have begun reviewing your documents, preparing your return or application, or initiated a process on a government portal.

If work has commenced but the filing has not yet been submitted, we will refund the fee less a reasonable charge for work already done, which we will itemise for you before deducting it.

4. When we refund in full

  • We did not deliver. If we are unable to provide the service for any reason on our side, you receive a full refund of our fee.
  • Duplicate or excess payment. Returned in full.
  • Cancellation before commencement, as set out above.
  • Our error. If a filing is rejected or has to be revised because of a mistake on our part, we correct it at no charge. If you would rather not proceed, we refund the fee for that service.

5. When we do not refund

  • The return, application or registration has already been submitted to the relevant government portal and accepted for processing.
  • The information or documents you supplied were inaccurate or incomplete, and this caused a rejection, demand or delay.
  • You did not respond in time for us to meet a statutory deadline, despite our reminders.
  • A delay was caused by government portal downtime, a statutory change, or another event outside our reasonable control.
  • The outcome was not what you hoped for — for example a smaller refund than expected, or selection for scrutiny — where the work itself was performed correctly. See the Disclaimer: we do not guarantee outcomes.
  • Change of mind after work has been completed.

6. How to request a refund

Email support@khataworld.in with your name, the mobile number or email you engaged us on, the service concerned, the payment reference, and the reason for the request.

StageTimeline
Acknowledgement of your requestWithin 2 working days
Decision, with reasons in writingWithin 7 working days
Approved refund creditedWithin 7 working days of approval

Once we initiate a refund, the time it takes to appear depends on your bank or payment provider.

7. If you disagree with our decision

Refer it to our Grievance Officer through the Grievance Redressal process. If you remain dissatisfied, you may approach the National Consumer Helpline on 1915 or the appropriate Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. We will not treat a refund dispute as grounds to withhold your documents.
