Trademark Registration
Trademark registration under the Trade Marks Act, 1999 is filed as Form TM-A with the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks. The government fee is ₹4,500 per class for individuals/startups/MSMEs (₹9,000 for other entities), and an unopposed mark is typically registered within 12–24 months. Khata World handles the search, filing and follow-up.
Register My TrademarkThe Process
From Search to Certificate, Handled End to End
Trademark registration moves through five stages — we manage every one of them.
Trademark Search
We check the existing register so your mark isn’t likely to be refused or opposed.
Class Selection
Your goods and services are mapped to the correct NICE class(es), out of 45 in total.
Form TM-A Filing
Application filed on the IP India portal, typically the same day — you can use ™ immediately after.
Examination & Response
We handle any examination report, objection or hearing the registry raises on your behalf.
Publication & Registration
After the 4-month opposition window in the Trade Marks Journal, your registration certificate is issued.
Why It Matters
What Trademark Registration Actually Gets You
Fee Depends on Your Entity
The government e-filing fee is ₹4,500 per class for an individual, sole proprietor, startup or MSME, and ₹9,000 per class for any other entity type.
10-Year Validity, Renewable Forever
Once registered, a trademark is valid for 10 years from the filing date and can be renewed indefinitely in further 10-year terms via Form TM-R.
™ Now, ® Only Later
You can start using the ™ symbol as soon as your application is filed — the ® symbol is reserved for marks that have completed registration.
One Filing, Multiple Classes
A single application can cover several of the 45 NICE classes at once; the government fee is simply charged per class included.
