Udyam / MSME Registration
Udyam (MSME) registration is open to proprietorships, partnerships, LLPs and companies whose plant & machinery investment and turnover fall within the current Micro/Small/Medium limits — there's no government fee for the filing itself. Khata World verifies your classification and files the self-declaration on the Udyam portal, typically same-day, for a professional fee quoted per entity type.
Register My BusinessA Small Certificate That Changes How Banks and Buyers Treat You
Udyam Registration is the government's official record of your business as a Micro, Small or Medium Enterprise. It replaced the older Udyog Aadhaar system, and it is what lenders, government buyers and marketplaces look for before extending MSME benefits to you.
The filing itself is a self-declaration — which is exactly why it goes wrong so often. An incorrect turnover figure or the wrong activity code can put you in the wrong category and cost you the benefit you registered for. We check the numbers against your books before anything is submitted.

Why Register
What an Udyam Certificate Actually Gets You
These are the benefits business owners across India most often register for.
Collateral-Free Credit
Registered MSMEs can access collateral-free working capital under central credit guarantee schemes, and banks treat them as priority sector lending.
Protection on Delayed Payments
The MSMED Act gives registered units a statutory remedy when a buyer delays payment beyond the agreed period, with recourse to the MSME Samadhaan facility.
Government Tender Preference
Central ministries and PSUs reserve a share of procurement for MSEs, with exemption from earnest money deposit on many tenders.
Subsidies & Concessions
Access state and central subsidy schemes — patent and trademark fee reimbursement, ISO certification support and industrial promotion subsidies.
Easier Licences & Approvals
A valid Udyam number is accepted as proof of MSME status across banks, marketplaces and government portals, smoothing other registrations.
Onboarding on GeM & Marketplaces
Government e-Marketplace and several B2B platforms ask for an Udyam number to list you as an MSME seller.

Documents
What We Need From You
Udyam is a self-declaration, so nothing has to be uploaded — we only need the details to declare.
- Aadhaar number of the proprietor, managing partner or authorised director
- PAN of the business (and of the applicant)
- GSTIN, where the business is required to be registered under GST
- Bank account details of the business
- Basic business details — activity, date of commencement, number of employees
- Investment in plant, machinery or equipment and previous-year turnover
Already have Udyog Aadhaar?
Udyog Aadhaar registrations are no longer valid on their own — enterprises were required to move to Udyam. If you registered years ago and have not migrated, your MSME benefits may already have lapsed. Send us your old number and we will check your status and re-register you.
Keeping it valid
Udyam is linked to your PAN and GST records, and your category can change as turnover and investment grow. We will tell you what needs updating and when, so the certificate still holds when a bank or buyer checks it.

MSME Classification, Fees & Timelines
Key figures every applicant should know — current as of 25 August 2026. Classification limits are set by government notification and can change; verify against udyamregistration.gov.in before relying on these for a specific filing.
- Micro enterprise limits
- Investment in plant & machinery/equipment up to ₹2.5 crore AND annual turnover up to ₹10 crore.
- Small enterprise limits
- Investment up to ₹25 crore AND annual turnover up to ₹100 crore.
- Medium enterprise limits
- Investment up to ₹125 crore AND annual turnover up to ₹500 crore. Both the investment and turnover conditions must be met — crossing either one moves you to the next category.
- Government fee
- None. Udyam registration on the official government portal is free for life; a fee applies only for the verification and filing work we do on your behalf.
- Documents to upload
- None — registration is a self-declaration validated against your PAN, Aadhaar and GST records, not a document-upload process.
- Processing time
- Typically same-day once your Aadhaar, PAN and GST details validate correctly online; the e-certificate is issued instantly on approval.
- Protection on delayed payments
- Under Section 15 of the MSMED Act, 2006, a buyer must pay a registered Micro or Small enterprise within 45 days of accepting goods/services. Section 16 makes a late buyer liable for compound interest at three times the RBI-notified bank rate.
- Certificate validity
- Lifetime — no renewal needed. Your classification is re-verified each year against your ITR/GST filings and updated automatically if your investment or turnover crosses a threshold.
